Neurofeedback: An Alternative to ADHD Meds?
Some families seeking a non-drug treatment for children with ADD-ADHD are seeing positive results utilizing neurofeedback techniques.
This non-pharmaceutical technique relies on discovering areas of the brain with depressed or irregular activity and targeting them for “exercise.”
“To treat ADD and ADHD, children control scientifically tweaked video games through focus and concentration; electrodes on the head chart which sections of the brain need more ‘exercise’… The severity of the condition, as well as the presence of overlapping conditions, will determine the number of sessions a patient needs,” according to a psychologist who administers neurofeedback treatments.
